Lightsabers, DeLoreans and disco! Pacific Symphony is bringing fan-favorite film scores and iconic hits to life all summer long as SummerFest takes over Great Park Live in Irvine.

Ahead of the series, Principal Pops Conductor Enrico Lopez-Yañez spoke with TimesOC about why everything from “Star Wars” and “Back to the Future” to the music of ABBA sounds even better with a live orchestra and what it takes to stay perfectly in sync. Fun fact: Several Pacific Symphony musicians have performed on Hollywood film soundtracks, including the “Star Wars” movies, making these concerts about as close to the original recordings as it gets.
