Second Harvest Food Bank Dishing Out Food For Thought This Hunger Action Month

As September unfolds, you might have noticed a splash of orange adorning some of Orange County’s most recognizable landmarks. No, the county is not suddenly bursting with citrus-themed pride—this vibrant display is all about shining a spotlight on an important cause: Hunger Action Month.

Spearheaded by Feeding America, this annual initiative encourages food banks across the nation, like Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, to shed light on the presence of food insecurity in the community.
This year, Second Harvest and Reveille cooked up some fresh ideas to increase awareness. We whipped up one-of-a-kind lapel pins and mugs for our local morning show anchors to sport on Hunger Action Day, September 10th. Our friends at FOX11’s Good Day LA proudly debuted the items and shared quick soundbites about food insecurity in Southern California throughout the morning.

The Reveille team also facilitated a feature in the Irvine Standard, spotlighting Second Harvest Food Bank’s fearless leader, Claudia Bonilla Keller, and serving up a hearty helping of ways to get involved this month.

So, as you go about your day and catch glimpses of orange around town, remember—
it’s not just a color, it’s a call to action.
