New research from Harvard reveals a startling link between relationship violence and survivors’ long-term health risks including heart disease. During Stalking Awareness Month in January, Human Options made sure that message reached the community. Led by CEO Maricela Rios Faust, the Irvine nonprofit supports survivors long after the immediate crisis, providing community and care that addresses both emotional trauma and lasting physical impact.
Through interviews with Spectrum News 1’s Jo Kwon and KFI News reporter Heather Brooker, Reveille was proud to help share the story of Human Options’ efforts to assist survivor Tammy and bring attention to the real health consequences of stalking. A local cardiologist reinforced the medical realities for survivors while Tammy’s story offered hope. Now a member of the Human Options Survivor Advisory Council, Tammy is turning her experience into advocacy and helping others find safety and healing.
