Did you know Orange County is home to a world-class composer? Viet Cuong is a proud Vietnamese American composer whose music is making waves worldwide. Cuong’s journey is especially meaningful this year, marking the 50th anniversary of the fall of Saigon–which brought his family to California and set the stage for his musical dreams.
Starting with childhood piano lessons and fueled by the courage of his parents, who took a leap of faith in moving to America, Cuong’s passion for music led him to study at the prestigious Peabody Conservatory, then Princeton University and the Curtis Institute of Music.
His newest piece, “Marine Layer,” inspired by the stunning OC’s coastline, had its world premiere by Pacific Symphony, where he’s been composer-in-residence since 2020. Reveille helped share his inspiring story across local media, including Little Saigon TV, Viet Face TV, and the Los Angeles Times Daily Pilot.
