What if a place could transform healing for cancer patients? A first-of-its-kind, multi-faith spiritual care center designed to immerse patients in a nurturing environment was recently unveiled. Research shows that spirituality can improve outcomes and quality of life for people with serious illness, and City of Hope Orange County’s soon-to open cancer specialty hospital in Irvine took it to heart. Partnering with the creator of Disney’s iconic “Soarin’ Over California,” a cancer survivor himself, the new multi-faith sanctuary allows patients and their families to push a button and experience the sights and sounds of worship spaces representing the world’s five largest faith traditions as well as calming natural settings like beaches or forests. The innovative sanctuary debuted with a blessing from Southern California faith leaders and performances by the Pacific Chorale. KABC, The Orange County Register and TimesOC, among others, were on hand to experience the moving festivities.
