When California’s hunger fighters show up, they show up big. The California Association of Food Banks turned Capitol Action Day into a full-court press for hunger relief rallying to protect $60 million in CalFood funding, a critical investment that fuels California’s food banks, supports local farmers and feeds families from San Diego to Shasta.
Demonstrating action from the ground up, staff and volunteers from 25 food banks packed boxes at Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services and took part in 70 meetings with lawmakers, making it crystal clear: fighting hunger is more than charity, it needs to be policy.
Reveille flew in to support and host media on-site, resulting in wall-to-wall coverage from every major broadcast outlet in the region, including CBS13, ABC10, Fox, Telemundo, NPR, CapRadio and more – a total of 25 media hits that pushed CalFood to the top of the public agenda.
