For its first comprehensive, full-scale earthquake drill, Vanguard University put its emergency response plan to the test, including the student leaders who would become a critical resource for their peers if outside help couldn’t immediately reach campus. Reveille saw an opportunity to take media beyond the standard “duck and cover” of the past, inviting reporters behind the scenes to watch the response unfold and shadow student-led teams as they navigated the simulated disaster.
The strategy paid off, with 23 media mentions across Los Angeles and Orange County-based media outlets. ABC7, Spectrum News 1 and the Los Angeles Times’ Daily Pilot captured the action to help tell a broader story about emergency preparedness.
