During Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, Human Options honored survivors of relationship violence through a series of impactful events and activations. The organization hosted its annual Fall Luncheon and three #ShineTheLight Walking Vigils at parks across Orange County. Each park was illuminated by dozens of lavender luminaries, a striking visual of hope and resilience underscoring the importance of collective action to end relationship violence.
Also last month, when a new Harvard study revealed that being stalked may significantly increase a woman’s risk of heart disease, Reveille quickly pitched Human Options’ CEO Maricela Rios-Faust as an expert. Ms. Magazine, founded by the iconic Gloria Steinem, immediately recognized the story’s national significance and wrote a compelling piece connecting being stalked to long-term health impacts.
