She’s Remarkable Indeed!

Michelle Wulfestieg, Executive Director of Southern California Hospice Foundation, is a Remarkable Woman who recognizes the profound impact of supporting people as they transition from this life. Truly understanding this mission after experiencing a stroke at the age of 11 and a more severe one at 25 that nearly claimed her life, Michelle has defied medical prognoses—an indication of her remarkable resilience.

Since then, Michelle has been dedicated to supporting terminally ill adults and children, helping those in need to experience the end of life with peace and dignity while making meaningful moments with their families and loved ones. As a testament to her life’s work, she created Heavenly Home, Orange County’s first and only nonprofit end-of-life care home. Often seen as a difficult or sad topic, Michelle’s work is bringing hope and a positive outlook to how we care for the terminally ill.

It is no wonder why KTLA selected Michelle as one of four Remarkable Women among hundreds throughout KTLA’s broadcasting domain—outshining contenders from LA, Riverside, Ventura, San Bernardino and, of course, Orange Counties. KTLA’s Lu Parker drove down to Mission Viejo to connect with Michelle and Heidi Emmert, daughter of one of Heavenly Home’s original residents, in Heavenly Home’s gorgeous backyard to share Michelle’s story. We are beyond proud of Michelle and are deeply honored to get to work with her!
