Simple Hacks For Bringing Joy Back

This month, The New York Times hosted the first-ever Well Festival in Brooklyn, bringing together experts to discuss keys to living a healthy, meaningful life. Since we can always use a little positivity, here are three easy steps to bringing joy to our day-to-day lives:
1. Reach Out to Your People
Dr. Robert Waldinger, Harvard professor and happiness expert, says nurturing relationships is one of the best things you can do for your well-being. A simple text to check in such as, “Hi, I was thinking of you,” can make all the difference!
2. Embrace Joyful Movement
Kelly McGonigal, a Stanford health psychologist, shared that exercise doesn’t have to feel like a chore. Find a type of movement that feels joyful to you, whether it’s a run, a walk, or just dancing around your living room.
3. Live Every Day Like It’s Your First
Author Suleika Jaouad, who has battled leukemia, advises shifting from, “Live each day like it’s your last,” to “Live every day like it’s your first.” She recommends starting your day with curiosity, wonder and small acts of creative alchemy—like journaling moments of joy from the last 24 hours. It’s the little things that make the biggest impact!
