The Samueli Foundation Strengthens the Heart of Orange County’s Nonprofits

It’s not every day you have a front-row seat as your amazingly generous client gives away $17.2M to nonprofits attending to the community’s deepest needs, but that’s exactly the honor we just experienced by serving as the Samueli Foundation’s creative and public relations partner. It’s been an adventure the last couple of months: After listening to nonprofit voices through Orange County’s first-ever Nonprofit Needs Assessment released this spring, the Foundation launched two unrestricted funds, Breakaway and Build OC, to meet critical needs quickly and meaningfully, ultimately awarding $11M to 138 nonprofit partners through the Breakaway Fund and an additional $6.2M to eight capital projects with Build OC. As a full-service partner, Reveille jumped into action the moment the grant recipients were determined by developing a Breakaway Fund video, a landing page, digital ads, toolkits and PR to communicate the generosity and impact of the funding, followed days later by Build OC news with more social graphics and a landing page design. From encouraging applications early on to securing front-page coverage in The Orange County Register and Orange County Business Journal as the story unfolded, we were honored to help shine light as the community is strengthened and celebrated by the power of strategic philanthropy.
