California Association Of Food Banks Rolls Up Support To Keep Calfood’S $60M Funding On The Table

What’s better than a warm, fresh tortilla? A warm, fresh tortilla with a side of economic impact! Thanks to the CalFood program, the Community Food Bank of San Benito buys 1,200 packages of tortillas a month from El Nopal Panaderia and Tortilla Factory–fueling a local business and feeding the community with dignity. It’s a win-win-win for food banks, farmers, and small food businesses across California, which is why the California Association of Food Banks (CAFB) is pushing to keep $60 million in state funding on the table. At this imperative time ahead of state budget decisions, Reveille secured multiple stories spotlighting this essential program–because when local economies thrive, so do communities!
