It’s no surprise that vulnerable families across Orange County are continuing to struggle as they battle increasingly high costs of living. Community organizations that provide families access to housing, food and everyday essentials such as diapers (which average $80-$100 to purchase each month!) are more crucial than ever. For many low-income families, that means choosing between rent, groceries or other expenses, just to provide a basic necessity for their child.
Community Action Partnership of Orange County’s (CAP OC) OC Diaper Bank is a crucial safety net. Since it launched in March 2020, it has delivered more than 47 million diapers to families in need, serving 10,000 children through 80+ distribution partners. As one of these distribution partners, Families Forward—which provided nearly 3,500 children with diapers last year alone—has witnessed increased demand from families seeking these essential resources.
The OC Diaper Bank was initially funded 100% through a state grant, which will be depleted at the end of June 2024 unless new funding sources are secured.
To get the news out that this important resource is in need of funding support, Reveille reached out to media far and wide to secure coverage on NBC 4 Los Angeles, NBC San Diego 7, Nguoi Viet, KVEA Telemundo 52 Los Angeles, Spectrum News 1 and Daily Pilot and TimesOC.
